Bartel A. Borglum obituary

HARTSELLE — Memorial service for Bartel A. Borglum, 63, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at St.

Paul’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Lewis and the Rev. Duane Maas officiating.

Mr. Borglum died Feb. 6, 2002, at his residence. He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Yates County, N.Y., to Tenus

Borglum and Gerda Jensen Borglum. He was brother of the late Knud Borglum and Greger Borglum. He

was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur and Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in

Hartselle.

He graduated from Dana College in Nebraska and was a volunteer fireman in New York, Speake and

Hartselle. He served on the Board of Directors of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in New York and

the Penn Yan School Board in New York. He also was involved in the Yates County Farm Bureau, Yates

County Extension Service, 4-H Club and Danish Brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hein Borglum; one son, John Adrian Borglum of Guam; three daughters,

Kirsten Borglum of Portland, Ore., Gewn Lambert of Northport and Susan Borglum of Hartselle; three

brothers, Carsten Borglum of Zellwood, Fla., Gerald Borglum of Elkhard, Ind., and Dana Borglum of

Gorham, N.Y.; one sister, Ardis Vokes of Fairport, N.Y.; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund in Hartselle or

Hospice of the Valley.
